(BEIJING, August 23) -- Liu Qi, president of BOCOG and Guo Jinlong, mayor of Beijing and executive president of BOCOG, visited a number of service facilities for the Beijing Olympics on Saturday. They expressed appreciation for efforts made by the staff, which ensured the success of the Games.
Liu spoke highly of the work of volunteers, public security officers and members of the armed police who offered their services at the Beijing Emergency Office, the transport depots of the Olympic Family and the Jianguomenwai police substation, saying the smooth operation of the Olympics are attributable to the excellent services they staff provided. He urged them to continue to work tirelessly for the upcoming Paralympic Games.
At the National Aquatics Center, or the "Water Cube," which saw 21 new world records set since the opening of the Games on August 8, Liu said the successful operation of the venue is due to not only qualified facilities, but also to the indefatigable efforts of the service teams.
The success of Olympic preparations and operations has played an important role in raising the level of urban management, Liu said, urging the staff to sum up experiences and bring their administrative capabilities to a new high.
