Wu Ching - Kuo was Expected to Be Supported by the African Members

Taibei, July 13 (Central News Agency) - Wu Ching – Kuo had kept a good relationship with the Africa Sports Circle, and he would get a lot of votes and support in the election of the President of the IOC.


The IOC would hold its annual meeting in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, in September, and elect a new IOC President through the secret ballot of all members. There are 104 members now in the IOC, and 12 of who are from Africa.


It was reported that the 6 candidates of the next president of IOC had all been notified to attend the meeting of electing the president of ACNOA held in Abidjan, the capital of Cote d'Ivoire, but only Wu Ching - Kuo, President of the German Olympic Committee Thomas Bach, and IOC Vice President Ng Ser Miang attended.


The report pointed out that Wu Ching – Kuo, the president of the International Boxing Federation, had visited Africa for seven times in the past 10 years, and always received warm hospitality.  


Wu Ching - Kuo said that he had established a good relationship with the African colleagues during the 25 years of serving as the member of IOC, and he said that he kept paying special attention to the African continent, and also believed that Africa had unlimited potential.


He believed that IOC should be fair to every continent, and focused on helping the areas that needed the help most. He promised that if he was elected as the next IOC President, he would do everything possible to assist Africa.
