Rogge Ranked the Most Influential People in Sports

On July 1 (IOC official website) - Recently, Gianni Merlo, the president of AIPS, has awarded Rogge the Most Influential People in Sports for commending the outstanding contributions made by him to the development of the Olympic Games.


Three months later, Jacques Rogge would hand over the position of the IOC President. During his tenure, the first Youth Olympic Games was held, and the country in South America was first elected to host the Olympic Games. What's more important, Jacques Rogge had greatly enhanced the ethical standards and transparency of the International Olympic Committee, and made athletes the real “core of the Olympic Games”.  


In the awards ceremony, Jacques Rogge - the 71 years old IOC President coming from Belgium - told the important role of the media that he expected the media to help spread sports to all teenagers and to all the people; and help to fully show the beauty of sports and the infinite joy and dreams that sports may bring.
