(BEIJING, Nov. 6) -- Representatives of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) attended the 18th meeting of the parties to the Montreal Protocol on substances that deplete the ozone layer in New Delhi from 30 Oct to 3 Nov 2006.

On October 31, the delegates to the meeting listened to a BOCOG report on its measures to protect ozone layer and to honor the international conventions under the leadership of the Chinese government. The report covered the construction of venues, marketing and other areas in preparation for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. Ozone layer protection is a major task of the "Green Olympics" which the Beijing Olympics has been advocating.

During the meeting organized by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), BOCOG representatives sent out publications to promote ozone layer protection, a move welcomed by the delegates.

Representatives of over 100 parties, international organizations, other governmental and non-governmental bodies as well as observers attended the meeting.
