1. How do you compare the ticket price of Beijing Olympic Games with that of previous games?

Answer: Each OCOG has to consider the affordability of the local market. China is a developing country, and the income of the general public is lower than that of Sydney and Athens. Therefore, compared to previous games, ticket prices for the Beijing Games are significantly less. The highest ticket price of the Opening Ceremony is 50% of the highest priced ticket of the last Games, and the lowest is only 20% of its equivalent. The highest and the lowest-priced tickets for sports sessions will cost about only 30% percent of their equivalents.

2. Are all sports sessions priced?

Answer: The Beijing Games will feature 28 sports and 38 disciplines with different audience arrangements. Some sessions will not require tickets, such as road cycling, road walking and the marathon, these events will be open to spectators. We currently have 240 pricing categories for the tickets and are still discussing ticket policies for some specific events.

3. Will there be any free tickets, staff tickets or discounted tickets?

Answer: There won't be any free tickets, staff tickets or discounted tickets. BOCOG has put a ticketing policy in place in order to ensure tickets are potentially accessible to everyone. We have even developed a special program to allow Chinese students to attend the Games.

4. How many tickets will be available for sale?

Answer: There will be over 7 million tickets available for sale.

5. Will the 7 million plus tickets be sold to the general public?

Answer: We have a quota in place, so that the domestic general public has access to at least 50% of available tickets, which is higher than in recent Games. According to the Olympic Games conventions, tickets are sold worldwide. In addition to tickets for the domestic and international public, BOCOG will also sell tickets to the IOC, NOCs, IFs, sponsors and broadcasters.

6. Are there any other tickets outside the 7 million?

Answer: No. There are other seats but these are reserved for groups who are working such as the press and broadcasters, or for the Olympic athlete competitors who want to enjoy the Games and watch the sport on a day when they are not competing.
