Int'l symposium on legal protection for disabled persons held in Beijing

(BEIJING, Jan. 15) -- An international academic fiesta on the legal mechanism to protect disabled persons' rights and interests was held at Renmin University of China (RUC) on Monday in an effort to push forward the country's endeavor in the area.

The workshop was the largest in scale and highest in academic level in recent years in China on the theme of legal protection for the people with a disability and was attended by over 60 domestic and foreign experts and academies from world renowned universities and research institutes, including Harvard Law School, Heidelberg University, William & Mary Law School, National University of Ireland at Galway, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Tsinghua University, Peking University and Renmin University of China.

The RUC Research and Service Center on the Law Protecting Disabled Persons' Rights and Interests was declared to be established during the session.
