(BEIJING, Feb. 12) -- The Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) held a meeting with a foreign expert on Beijing's environmental endeavors from Feb. 8-9, 2007.

During the meeting, Beijing Municipal Commission of Reform and Development, Beijing Municipal Administration Commission, Beijing Municipal Committee of Communications, Beijing Water Authority, and Beijing Environmental Protection Bureau briefed Simon Balderstone, environmental consultant of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), on the city's environmental endeavors.

BOCOG Construction & Environment department updated Balderstone on the latest progress in environmental management, the promotion of the "Green Olympics", and the garbage treatment plans for the 2008 Olympic Games.

The IOC representative praised BOCOG's efforts, and went on to offer a number of expert suggestions.

Balderstone expressed the hope that the present environmental upgrade would benefit the city long after the games have ended, thus becoming one of the most valuable legacies of the Olympics to the capital of China.

On the morning of Feb. 8, BOCOG Executive President and Secretary General Wang Wei had a meeting with Balderstone during which he thanked him for his helpful advice.
