Foreign TV teams cover the "Bird's Nest" now under construction.

(BEIJING, Aug. 12) -- Television cameramen, producers and correspondents from 14 renowned media ended week-long news coverage of the preparatory work of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games on Saturday.

They were impressed by the construction of Olympic venues, Beijingers' passion for the Olympiad, people's seriousness to protect the environment as well as the ancient city's scenic spots.

Invited by Beijing Olympic Press Center and Beijing TV Station, the TV teams on the tour included TV 3 New Zealand, TBS (Japan), SBS (South Korea), Seven Network Australia, TF1 (France), CNN, AP, RAI (Italy), ARD (Germany), ALJazeera, TV Globo Brazil, Reuters, NHK, BBC and ORF (Austria).

They set foot in the National Stadium, dubbed "the Bird's Nest," National Aquatics Center or "the Water Cube," new terminal of Capital International Airport, Gaobeidian Sewage Treatment Plant, Shishahai Sport School, the training base of the General Administration of Sport, the monitoring center of Beijing Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau, Capital Iron and Steel Company, the Beijing Planning Exhibition Hall, Lenovo Group, the Dongsi Olympic Community, the Temple of Heaven Park, among others.

The smooth progress of construction of the National Stadium astonished Chris Reason, senior correspondent of Seven Network Australia, who believed that it will give sufficient time for test events, a key point for a successful Olympiad.
