Liu Peng - Executive President of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) - is concurrently the Minister of the General Administration of Sports and President of the Chinese Olympic Committee.

Liu was born in Chongqing in September 1951. He began his professional career in January 1969 and joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in May 1979. Liu holds a Master's degree in solid mechanics from Chongqing University. He has held several posts including President of All-China Federation of Youth, Deputy Minister of the Publicity Department of the Central CPC Committee, and Vice-Secretary of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee.

Liu was appointed BOCOG Executive President in January 2005.
