(BEIJING, Feb. 24) -- Beijing's museums attracted large numbers of
visitors during the Chinese Lunar Festival, which lasted for a week from
February 18 to 24.
In the first four days of the festival, the Beijing Science and Technology
Museum registered over 25,000 visitors, four times the daily average.
To meet the growing demand, the museum extended its closing time to 17:30
during the festival, one hour later than usual.
The same situation prevailed at the Beijing Planetarium, which received an
average of up to 5,000 visitors per day in the first four days of the "Golden
Holiday Week".
According to an official, the planetarium offered 43 programs in its three
presentation pavilions every day.
School children enjoyed the display of more than 300 exhibits and photos
depicting the life of pigs at the Beijing Museum of Natural History, as this
year's Lunar Festival is under the sign of the pig.
