Khalifa International Tennis and Squash complex will host tennis, soft tennis and squash |
Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex is an established venue on the ATP men's professional tennis tour. The Qatar Open launches the tennis year and, since 1993 when Boris Becker won the inaugural title, it has attracted the world's top players to its hard courts. In January 2006, world number one Roger Federer beat Gael Monfils to become only the second player to defend the Qatar trophy, following Stefan Edberg 11 years earlier. The original centre court holds 4,106 spectators and remains unaltered. For the 15th Asian Games, eight new training courts have been built, as well as four squash courts, with seating for more than 1,000 represenatatives, and new media and players' facilities. Events:
