(BEIJING, April 5) -- As part of an environmental publicity program in the
run-up to the 2008 Olympic Games, the first lecture on the theme was opened in
Beijing Urban Management College on Wednesday.
Over 300 students and teachers attended the lecture on Green Olympics and the
Environmental Ethics given by Guo Gen, deputy superintendent of Beijing Milu
Park.
Based on his experience, Mr. Guo provided the listeners with a picture of the
impact of human behavior on nature and the damage that environmental
deterioration brings to mankind.
Milu is a kind of deer that used to be common in China long ago. However, it
disappeared as a result of killing during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Some milu
deer have recently returned to China from Britain and their number has been
growing because of suitable conditions.
Beijing campus students are on a campaign to make contribution to building a
resource-saving and environment-friendly society by attending theme lectures and
doing news coverage on the people devoting themselves to environmental
protection.
