Green Olympics In Beijing 2005 - Preface

   With the 28th Olympic Games successfully closed in Athens, the Olympic movement enters its Beijing cycle. The preparation for 2008 Beijing Olympics goes smoothly under the leadership of the China's central government and the guidance of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and thanks to the support of the domestic and international environmental organizations and the proactive involvement of the public.

   In 2005, the Beijing Municipal Government (BMG) and BOCOG strictly fulfilled the great idea of Scientific Development and prepared for a Green Olympics in line with the principle of sustainable development. As a result, the urban environment has been continuously improved and the public have significantly raised their environmental awareness.

   This annual report records the main Green Olympics actions taken by BOCOG and environmental progresses made by BMG in 2005.
