HK to launch e-passport system before 2008

Immigration Department of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region may launch an on-line service booking system on April to May this year, according the HK government on Monday.

The new system "Easy Approach for Private Cases" will help the residents on appointment booking for applying birth, death or marriage certificate and on-line registration of identity card.

In addition, after a series valid tests phases, e-passport and face verification system will also be launched in succession before the next year.
