Sports career:

Began diving training in Hunan Spare-time Sports School and chosen by the Hunan provincial team in 1982. Joined the national team for intensified training in January 1986.


Personal best:

1996 Atlanta Olympic Games - 1st springboard; 2000 Sydney Olympic Games - 1st springboard & synchronized springboard.


High performances:

1986 National Champions Tournament Division B - 1st 1m & 3m springboard, 1st 5m platform, 1st overall
1987 International invitations in East Germany, Canada and Mexico - 1st platform
1987 National Games - 2nd springboard & platform
1988 Guangzhou Asian Swimming Championships - 1st platform
1988 Seoul Olympic Games - 2nd platform
1988 Sweden Cup International Tournament - 1st springboard & platform

1989 - Named Best Diver by US magazine "SWIMMING WORLD".

At present:

Entered the International Business College of Hunan University in August 1993 as a student of industrial foreign-trade. Became deputy director of the Hunan provincial sports team after retirement in 1997. Returned to the pool as a diver in May 1998 and retired again three years later. Now deputy secretary of the Party committee of the Hunan Provincial Sport Administration, deputy director of the Chaoyang Developing Zone in Yiyang City and deputy secretary of the Yiyang working committee
