On June 5, 2005, the Beijing Olympic Volunteer Program was launched and the Volunteers symbol for the Games was unveiled. The Beijing 2008 Olympic Volunteers Action Plan was formally released at the inaugural ceremony of the program. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Jacque Rogge attended the ceremony, saying the once in a life time experience of being a volunteer would be unforgettable. Around 70,000 and 30,000 Games-time volunteers will be needed for the Beijing Olympics and Paralympics respectively.
