(BEIJING, April 19) -- In response to a call from the organizers, nine families who registered to take part in the campaign "Olympic Families Tour Beijing" have planted trees at a park in Beijing on Thursday.
Most of the families brought their young children to instill in them a sense of hard work, and the children were happy to take part with their parents in such a noble public activity.
The park near the "Diaoyutai" State Guesthouse is a popular place for recreation and entertainment in China's capital. The families' disinterested action caught the eye of many park- goers, who greeted and cheered them on.
In cooperation with China Mobile, the website of www.beijing2008.cn launched a campaign to make it possible for ten families, five from China and five from the rest of the world, to tour Beijing and the co-host cities ahead of the Olympic Games.
The campaign is unfolding in three successive stages with online users' participation and the ten winning families will be picked for the tour to begin in August 2007, on the occasion of the one-year countdown to the Beijing Olympic Games.
For more information of the campaign, please visit the official website of the BEIJING 2008 Olympic Games www.beijing2008.cn.
