(BEIJING, April 18) -- Five pre-Games volunteers for the Beijing Olympic Games were honored for their outstanding services in March.

Wang Yuanyuan, Wang Yuru, Yang Wen, Wu Shan and Wang Jin, who worked for the different departments of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) were cited at a meeting on Wednesday. Each of them received a certificate of service from the Beijing Volunteer Association and BOCOG Volunteer Department.

The officials praised their services in the Olympic preparatory work involving technology, transportation, the Olympic Village, venue management and the volunteer program, and brought them to the construction site of the National Stadium, or the "Bird's Nest" later, where the volunteers expressed their readiness to continue to render voluntary services.

Starting from February, the BOCOG Volunteer Department honors the outstanding pre-Games volunteers every month.
