Second gold for Saudi Arabia in less than two hours at Asiad athletics

DOHA, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- Yahya Hassan Habeeb pocketed the second gold medal for Saudi Arabia in less than two hours at the Asian Games track and field competitions here on Saturday.

Habeeb clocked 10.32 for the men's 100m sprint title, far behind the tournament record of 10.00 seconds set by Japan's Koji Ito at the Bangkok Asian Games eight years ago.

Japan's Naoki Tsukahara, in 10.34 seconds, and Thai Wachara Sondee, in 10.39, took the silver and bronze medals respectively. China's sole qualified sprinter Wen Yongyi finished a distant seventh in 10.59.

Home favorite Alwaleed Abdulla A Abdulla failed to add a medal for Qatar, getting across the finish line on fourth with a time of10.48.

Hussain Taher Al Saba of Saudi Arabia won the men's long jump title earlier in the evening with 8.02 meters to beat Kuwait's Saleh Al Hadad and fellow Saudi distance jumper Ahmed Faez Bin Marzou.
