| General Principals
The guideline aims to improve the ecological construction in Beijing. Reduction, recycling and safe treatment will considered during urban waste production, reuse and disposal. Meanwhile, the guideline will also carry out the spirit of Green Olympics of the Beijing Olympic Games.
I. Waste Management during Construction
1. Some building at the construction site of the Olympic projects will be removed. Waste materials should be reused directly as constructional materials or recycled after separate collection as much as possible. Waste that cannot be utilized should be collected and transported to the assigned treatment facilities according to the requirements of municipal administration department. Disposal of some hazardous residuals should be approved by relative departments.
2. In order to reduce the traffic transportation, ambient construction sites should be considered so that earthworks produced in the Olympic venues construction can be used as near as possible.
3. During the construction of Olympic projects, domestic waste should be separately collected into enclosed facilities correctly. And also they will be cleared and transported in time in order to keep the building site clean.
4. Construction waste should be deposited separately and reused as much as possible. Waste that cannot be utilized should be collected and transported to the assigned treatment facilities according to the requirements of municipal administration department.
II. Waste Management during Operation
(1) During the designing of Olympic venues, accurate collect facilities for special competition waste should be considered. Method of reuse and transportation should be decided according to the character of the waste. Waste of Olympic venues will be separately collected. In the course of designing, rational distribution of domestic refuse separate collection facilities should be considered and whether to set a waste collecting station is based on its actual situation as well as its ambient environment.
(2) In the course of Olympic venues designing, factors to reduce the one-shot waste during its operational terms should be considered. Construction of Temporary facilities should also abide by recyclable policy and use reproductive or reproducible materials. Temporary lavatory should be ecological.
(3) Used batteries, ink-jet cartridge, and electronic waste should be collected separately. Domestic refuse of Olympic venues should be disposed in existing facilities as much as possible. Biological treatment of onsite organic waste will be encouraged.
(4) Communication of waste separate collection, waste reduction, waste recycling in virtue of available resources such as billboard, wall painting around the venues will be stimulated.
