| Water resource utilization in Olympic Park should be sustainable and efficient. The conservation, protection and distribution of water are highly emphasized. On the other hand, a plan should be developed to treat sewage, recycle waste water and collect rain water.
1.Water-conserving appliances and irrigation practices
(1) Sanitation equipment pipe fittings must be water-conserving. Installing a complete system of 6L closestool and using two-shift closestool water tanks and accessories.
(2) All temporary public lavatories shall be ecological ones.
(3) Adopting effective measures to prevent leakage of water (including reclaimed water) supply network and reduce loss of pipe network.
(4) Selecting drought enduring grass and tree species to reduce watering frequency. Landscaping irrigation shall adopt advanced water saving irrigation technology.
2.Sewage and waste water resource
(1) Fully utilizing sewage and waste water resource to minimize the amount of sewage and refuse water discharged into city sewer.
(2) Rationally planning and constructing reclaimed water system and giving priority to use of high-quality miscellaneous discharged water as reclaimed water source. When high-quality discharged water is insufficient, domestic sewage water can be used as reclaimed water resource. However, such poisonous and harmful substances as heavy metal and carcinogen shall be prohibited from entering reclaimed water system.
(3) Reclaimed water is mainly used for toilet flush, afforestation, car wash, floor wash, road wash, landscape, etc.. reclaimed water shall be used by grade and water quality shall meet reclaimed water standard for the Olympic Games besides current standard of reclaimed water.
(4) Disinfection technology of reclaimed water shall adopt ecologic method or other substitute technology.
(5) Treatment of reclaimed water in the Olympic Green adopts the technology of biochemistry + artificial wet land + integrated biological pond or other treatment technology in accordance with ecological principle.
(6) Utilizing natural conditions in the Olympic Green to build sewage and waste water resource facilities into an integrated demonstration center of production, education and communication.
3.Rainwater resource
(1) Centralized recovery system shall be set up for rainwater on the roof of centralized architectural complex and on the playgrounds, and initial rainwater disposal device shall be set up.
(2) Rainwater collected in the Olympic Green can be drained into artificial wet land and then to recovery system of reclaimed water.
(3) Water storage layer and permeable layer, etc can be set up to between green land and soil, delay the speed of surface rainwater flowing, reduce artificial irrigation water for afforestation.
(4) Leakage trench shall be provided in the earth to increase underground water.
