| 1.Introduction
Green building materials are produced by clean technology and process, consume the least natural resource and energy. Some use solid waste caused by industry and city construction as raw materials. It is healthy to human beings and environment.
Compared with traditional building materials, it has five distinguished features:
(1) Created with large amount of industrial solid waste, reduce the amount of raw material taken from the land.
(2) Adopt advanced manufacture process and technology that consume less energy and cause as little environmental damage as possible.
(3) Create the least amount of pollution during the transportation phase.
(4) When they're 'in use,' contribute to the quality of a building's indoor environment, such as air, lighting, water and energy consumption, and overall comfort.
(5) Easily recycled (or biodegradable) when the building material reaches the end of its life cycle.
2.The requirements of building materials for Olympic venues
The materials used in Olympic venues should be healthy to environment, and they include building materials (cement, ceramic and so on) and decoration materials (building board etc.). All of them should meet the relative requirements. For instance,
(1) Cement
① Emission of air pollutant: Cement plants shall execute GB4915'Emission Standard for Air Pollutants for Cement Plants' and the limit value of emitted dust is 150mg/m3 and 0.8kg/t.
② GB/T16780 Energy consumption: executing 'Energy Consumption Grading of Cement Plant'.
③ Limit quantity of radioactivity: Requirements of the national compulsory standards GB6566.
(2) Building board and its products
Table:Limit quantity of formaldehyde in building board and its products

In addition, decoration and fitting-up materials used in construction of the Olympic projects must meet class A requirement of radioactivity.
