The English edition of "Approaching China - Beijing" has been published as an
important part of a key series of books launched by Shanghai People's Fine Art
Publishing House in recent years.
As the 2008 Olympic Games is drawing nearer, the name of Beijing is growing
bigger. The Beijing edition of the series will provide foreign tourists with an
access to understand better the ancient yet vigorous city.
On top of being useful, "Approaching China - Beijing" is also a fine item of
collection with beautiful design and excellent pictures and texts. Following the
descriptive line of "Historical Beijing," "Royal Beijing," "Common People's
Beijing," "Cultural Beijing," "Leisure Beijing" and "Modern Beijing," the book
gives a detailed description of the history, ancient relics and scenic spots of
Beijing as well as the city's culture, food and leisure places.
The author of the Chinese edition of "Approaching China - Beijing" is Wang
Yuelong, who was born and brought up in Beijing. He served for a long time as
correspondent of Beijing Bureau of Xinhua News Agency, covering extensively in
culture, education and sports in Beijing.
Wang is now working with the Advertising Center of Xinhua. Before his current
position, he was vice president of China.com. With his rich life and working
experience in Beijing, Mr. Wang gives foreign tourists a brand new angle to see
Beijing.
Many famous photographers contributed several hundreds of excellent
illustration plates.
