The Beijing 120 emergency medical center is looking for volunteers who can
speak foreign languages to serve as emergency operators during the 2008 Beijing
Games.
Beijing Youth Daily reports the volunteers will help answer the emergency
calls under doctors' supervision. The volunteers must have a good command of one
or more foreign languages, especially less popular languages. They are required
to serve at least four hours per month and more 100 hours per year.
An official from the center says their research has found around 10,000
foreign athletes and visitors received emergency treatment during the 2004
Athens Olympics. More than 80 people were hospitalized.
Volunteer recruitment has started on December 11. To apply, interested
parties can dial the 120 emergency center's recruitment hotline on 010-6609
8203, 010-6601 6101, or the China Youth Daily hotline on 010-6590 2008.
