Bidding to become an Olympic Volunteer is just a beginning. The graduates
will conduct extensive academic research on the Olympic Games. Mr. Li added that
they are preparing a special research paper on Olympic popularization based on
news and media reports.
"The Olympics is the focus of the news media worldwide… The graduates are
reviewing the news and media materials of past Olympics and a joint thesis paper
will be finished next month," added Mr. Li.
The joint thesis collection will be later presented to BOCOG. "We hope the
Olympics will benefit from the work," added Mr. Li.
Speaking contest winners
A majority of Olympic volunteer candidates have mastered at least a high
level of English competency. Among them, a young girl named He Bo was one of the
top three contestants in a recent nationwide TV English speaking contest.
Ms. He said, "I would like to be an interpreter for the Olympics".
She added that her desire to speak fluent English will enable her to serve
the Olympics better. As few graduates are enrolling to become Olympic
volunteers, the graduates from faraway Chongqing hope to encourage one another
and show their passion for the Olympic
Games.
