School children receive awards.

(BEIJING, Oct. 27) -- Excellent organizations, families and individuals in Beijing's water-saving campaign were awarded on Friday.

The campaign, launched on May 10 this year, has attracted many school children and their family members who have created and carried out practical water-saving schemes. Some families reported a fall of water use as water authorities' invoice showed.

At the awarding ceremony, organized by the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG), the Beijing youth league and Coca Company, experts disseminated water-saving tips and presented BOCOG with flowers cultivated by using saved water.

Yu Xiaoxuan, deputy director of BOCOG Venue and Environment Department encouraged more children and teenagers of elementary and secondary schools in Beijing to contribute to the environmental protection of the capital city by taking part in the campaign, called "Save a pail of water in your family -- Do It Yourself."
