(BEIJING, May 23) -- Tu Mingde, assistant to the president of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) met with visiting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) Peter O'Byrne on Tuesday.

The two sides exchanged views on the business promotion activities in Beijing during the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

A statutory agency within the Foreign Affairs and Trade portfolio, the commission helps Australian companies to enter and develop international markets, by providing advice, market intelligence and support to them.

The Austrade organized a number of business promotions on the occasion of the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. For instance, it invited foreign companies to watch the Olympic competitions together with their Australian counterparts, or hosted parties or gatherings during or after the Games.
