SHANGHAI, Nov. 19 (Xinhua) -- Roger Federer won his third Tennis Masters Cup title in four years with 6-0, 6-3, 6-4 victory over James Blake in just 96 minutes here Sunday.

Federer also became the first man to win three year-end championships since Pete Sampras won the last of five ATP Tour World Championship titles in 1999. He was also the first man to contest four consecutive finals at a year-end championship since Ivan Lendl, who reached a record nine finals in a row between 1980-1988.

Blake failed to become the first player making his debut at a year-end event to win the title. He lost the control of the match and was quickly defeated in the first set without winning a single game.

Though he got some of his form back at the beginning of the second set, he had no weapons to stop Federer from grabbing his 12th title this year.
