Venue Media Centres (VMCs)

VMCs will be available at all competition venues and non-competition venues like the Olympic Village, Media Villages and the IOC hotel. The mission of VMCs is to provide the best possible conditions under which accredited journalists and photographers can successfully carry out their work during the Games.

Services :

Press Workroom

There is press workroom in each VMC. Each workroom will provide well equipped work stations, technology and telecommunication services, INFO2008 terminals, CATV monitors and help desk. In addition, rental space is provided in some important venues in order to meet potential media needs.

Press Tribune

Press Tribunes at every competition site are located as close as possible to other media facilities. They are placed in a position that gives an unobstructed clear view of the competition. Each Press Tribune has non-tabled press seats and tabled press seats with power, telecommunication services and CATV monitors.

Press Conference Room

Press Conference Rooms will be arranged at every competition venue, Olympic Village and the IOC hotel to give the Media a chance to meet athletes, coaches and officials. Interpretation services will be offered to facilitate the communication.

Mixed Zone

The Mixed Zone is arranged in a way to facilitate contact between the athletes and the Media.

Experienced staff will manage the Mixed Zone to maintain order of the area and ensure athletes' smooth and free flow. Although the athletes are not obliged to answer questions from the Media if they don't wish, they will still have to walk through the zone to facilitate interview opportunities.

Media Lounge

Every competition venue has a Media Lounge offering the Media a place for relaxation and catering services. CATV monitors will be installed to assist the Media to follow the competition. INFO2008 stations will be available to facilitate access to Games information.

Operations

During the Games, all VMCs will be opened three hours before competition and closed three hours after competition.
